FAIR Washington is Looking for a State Coordinator

FAIR Washington is seeking a philosophically-aligned individual to lead our state chapter. As the leader of the chapter, the individual will be a public-facing example of FAIR’s core principles of fairness, understanding, and humanity. The individual will oversee implementation of FAIR Washington’s vision and mission, in collaboration with the existing team of volunteer leaders to develop and implement programming to help us reach our goals.

The ideal leader is a community-minded individual who:

  • Supports FAIR’s values of fairness, understanding, and humanity.
  • Possesses the leadership, listening skills, and grace to bring a diverse set of energized, passionate, and vocal stakeholders together toward a common vision.
  • Demonstrates and understands the importance of intellectual humility and compassion for those we disagree with.

Duties include helping FAIR Washington grow our membership, increasing volunteer participation, being the public face of FAIR in communication (social media and newsletter), delegating leadership roles to state chapter volunteers, interacting with other state chapter leaders, and attending the weekly FAIR national chapter leader meetings.  The state chapter leader can expect to spend 15-20 hours per month on FAIR work.  You will be given a FAIR email address and access to FAIR national resources and support once you have completed the required training and signed the volunteer agreement.

FAIR Washington is primarily involved in K-12 issues and has dedicated team of knowledgeable volunteers working on state-wide issues.  We regularly interact with OSPI, PESB and SBE to monitor issues of interest and concern, we have research projects based on Public Records Requests and are working to expand our grassroots efforts to effect change.
