FAIR in the Arts is a nonpartisan professional network dedicated to advancing a common culture in arts, entertainment, & media that champions freedom of expression, open-mindedness, and the ability to strive for excellence in all creative endeavors. We affirm the power of art to unite by bridging perceived divisions and highlighting our common humanity.

FAIR in the Arts is part of a national organization of more than 35,000 members that also has networks in Education and Medicine.

DIVISIVE IDENTITY POLITICShas become a de facto code of conduct in the arts. Artists feel alienated by intolerance, groupthink, and lack the freedom and support to produce work that is inspired and unfiltered.

That's where FAIR comes in

ART PROFESSIONALS, EDUCATORS, AND ADMINISTRATORSin the FAIR in the Arts network believe that viewing each other solely based on perceived identity group or belief system misses an opportunity to see each other more fully as individual human beings. FAIR in the Arts is restoring a culture of freedom, creativity, and humanity in the arts on both an institutional and cultural level.

We provide grants and other funding for artists to create impactful films, performances, and exhibitions that reflect authentic freedom of expression and highlight our common humanity.

We curate events to help artists establish supportive professional and collaborative relationships with like-minded peers who model pro-human values.

We develop a multidisciplinary professional network of arts advisors, institutions, and enterprises who develop resources, infrastructure and other means to support artists facing intolerance.

On Monday, April 8th, 2024 @ 5 pm PT / 8 pm ET, join FAIR in the Arts for our spring community meetup and industry mixer featuring special guest Elena Velez. Come to connect with like-minded arts professionals who are advancing a common culture of freedom, excellence, and humanity in the arts & entertainment.

ELENA VELEZ is an American fashion designer and entrepreneur known for her non-traditional synthesis of metalwork and high fashion. Velez is the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s 2022 Emerging Designer of the Year, Elle Magazine’s 2023 Women of Impact recognizé, and a winner of the 2022 Vogue Fashion Fund.

We will speak with Elena about her story coming up in the fashion industry, the challenges and successes she has faced, and the way forward for freethinking artists to build better institutions. Afterwards, we will break into networking mixers by industry: acting, administration, education, dance, film, music, theater, visual arts, writing, and more.

FAIR in the Arts Principles

We offer a home to all artists who feel alienated by intolerance and ideological orthodoxy in their fields.

We empower artists, arts educators, advocates, media professionals, and others who want to make their voices heard. We welcome everybody who wants to join us in advancing a pro-human culture in arts, entertainment, and media

We support the creation, production, and programming of art for art's sake.

Creative expression and curation should not be required to serve an activist, political, or ideological goal.

We defend artists' rights to create freely.

The creative process requires taking risks—one of which is the risk of offending. We acknowledge that patrons of the arts may choose whether or not to consume an artist’s work, but we do not support calls for any artist to be silenced, fired, or deplatformed due to differences in political or ideological affiliation.

We strongly support viewpoint diversity in the arts.

We encourage every artist’s ability to explore ideas that may not align with prevailing narratives. We believe that a wider range of perspectives is an inherent good, and that pressuring artists to conform to certain narratives dampens the power of art to express our diverse and multifaceted humanity.

We are pro-human artists.

We recognize that exceptional works of art often ask us to relate to individuals who may not share our immutable characteristics. We strive to create from a foundation rooted in our common humanity—one that transcends perceived divisions between groups.
